Giving Yourself a Facial

In this day and age we are all so busy we get very little time to ourselves. The more things you can find to pamper yourself and take away the stress the better and a facial can do just that for you.

The worst thing about going for a facial is they usually cost a lot of money and in the current climate that is not always something we can afford. However with a little bit of thought you can give yourself a home facial for not much money and feel really relaxed. You could even get a friend around and do it together so that you get to see your friend and you both get relaxed at the same time. The main problem is that most people do not know where to start so read on and find out how to give yourself a facial.

Before you start you need to get yourself prepared. I would recommend wearing some loose and comfortable clothing so you can easily relax and make sure you tie your hair back so that you can keep it off your face.

To start, take a warm wet towel and place it over your face. Then sit back and relax for a few minutes. If you really want to relax you can do this in the bath. This will leave you feeling great and very refreshed before you begin.

When you remove the towel from your face you should cleanse your face. You do not need to use a special cleanser, just use one that fits your skin and you use every day.

Now take a pot and fill it with water. You can then add some aromatherapy oils to the pot of water. You will need to use different oils based on your skin type. If you have dry skin then good oils to use are chamomile, fennel or roses and if you have oily skin you will find rosemary, lavender and peppermint work better.

Take your pot of water with the oils and heat it up until it boils. Then transfer the water to a bowl and place it on the table. Put you head over the bowl and put a towel over your head to make a little tent. Then remain there for around 10 minutes and breathe in steam. This will help to really clean out your pores. You will also find that the oil is absorbed into your skin making it really vibrant.

Now you can use a facial mask. Make sure you select one that is right for your skin type and remember to avoid the eye area. Apply the mask all over your face and add a slice of cucumber over each eye. Now lie down in a comfortable place and just relax allowing the mask to dry.

When the mask has completely dried and you feel totally relaxed get up and rinse the mask off your face. I would recommend using warm water and cotton wool to remove the mask quickly and comfortably.

Finally finish off your routine with toner and a high quality moisturiser. When you have done this not only will your skin feel amazing but you will feel great all over and ready to face anything. In this day and age if you just take the time to do this you will feel the health benefits in the long term.
